Fascinated by nutrition? Ever wonder who supplies behind the ingredients that you see in your favourite nutrition and wellbeing brands? This is a booming sector and the vitamin market alone is worth an estimated £424m in the UK! Here’s a chance to be part of it.

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager on behalf of a company that has a massive customer base across a whole host of players in the vitamins and supplements market. From retailers who have their own product offerings, through to the best-known sports nutrition brands in the UK, and some of the real up-and-coming, innovative businesses that are starting to make their mark on this category, this company supplies them all with the ingredients and expertise they need to make themselves stand out in a really competitive industry.

This is a role where you’ll be immersed in this world to soak up knowledge in the first 3 months. You’ll get to understand the products, the technicalities behind them and how to sell their benefits. Once you’re fully up to speed with the mechanics of what the company does, it’s over to you to get out there in front of prospective customers – you’ll have plenty of leads to get you started, but you’ll need some flair and your own ideas to think about who to approach and how to do it, to develop long term partnerships.

We’re looking for someone who has a real interest in nutrition. You must be able to talk about market trends, innovative products you’ve seen and your favourite brands. We also need to see at least a couple of years’ experience in a sales role – a track record of being able to sell an experience or a concept is vital, and negotiating at head office level would be highly preferable. This is a more complex sector than just selling off-the-shelf products, so that ability to translate requirements into solutions for your customers is essential. Naturally, you’ll have a driving license and be able to travel all over the UK, but you must be based within about an hour of Manchester to be able to get to the site regularly too.
