Growth & Marketing Director
A growing UK challenger food brand is looking for someone to take full ownership of its marketing as it scales.
The brand is already in major retailers and picking up pace quickly. This role is about deciding how it grows from here. You will work closely with the founders, shape the strategy, and have the freedom to back your ideas. Work at pace – no waiting for sign-off from five different people.
What the role involves
You will set the marketing direction.
It is a standalone, hands-on role. You will manage external agencies across social and PR, but stay close to the work – or maybe you wish to keep this in house. Expect a mix of planning campaigns, reviewing output, aligning activity with retail launches, and figuring out where marketing spend will go furthest.
You will make sure brand activity keeps pace with retail growth and production, focusing effort on the channels that will have the biggest impact. You will choose the channels that matter, use retailer tools properly, and keep things focused on what drives growth.
Some weeks will be more strategic, others more execution-heavy. Classic high growth challenger environment!
What we’re looking for
Extensive experience in FMCG marketing, with solid experience in food and drink.
You have worked with retail, understand how brands grow in that environment, and are comfortable switching between thinking and doing – big ideas, founder storytelling, retail activation and guerrilla marketing.
You are pragmatic, know how to prioritise, and do not rely on big budgets to get results.
This will suit someone with a challenger brand mentality who likes being close to the action rather than managing large teams.
About the company
A fast-growing UK food brand with strong early traction, now stocked in leading national retailers and continuing to expand its footprint. The business was founded by an award-winning chef and has built a clear point of view around flavour, quality and modern food culture.
With new production in place to support growth, the focus now is on scaling the brand in a way that stands out in a crowded category. It is a small, ambitious team, moving quickly and making decisions without a lot of bureaucracy.
If you are looking for a role where you can get stuck in and have a real say in how things are done, it is worth a conversation
The process will involve an initial screening call with Andrew Baker (1485 Ltd) before a 2 stage interview process – 1 video call, 1 in person with founders. We aim for this role to be offered and accepted by 8th May. No messing around with long drawn out processes!!
